E8 is a vibrant community of over 130 investors united by a mission to advance clean technologies, protect the environment, and tackle climate change. Each year, E8 members connect with dozens of groundbreaking startups at the forefront of decarbonization, renewable energy, sustainable materials, and more. Through monthly pitch meetings, returning portfolio companies, and initiatives like the Decarbon8 Fund, E8 members invested in 23 visionary companies in 2024 alone.
Regenr8 2025
With so many high-potential opportunities, it’s not feasible to participate in every round, or even to invest in the best of them. That’s why Regenr8 2025 was created.
Formed independently by E8 members, Regenr8 2025 is an annual fund that empowers E8 members to collectively invest in the most promising cleantech companies of the year. Open exclusively to E8 members and sponsors, the fund ensures that every investment decision is guided by member votes, amplifying our impact while simplifying participation.

E8 Investments
E8 members have supported a wide range of innovative cleantech startups, tackling some of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. While Regenr8 2025’s investments will be determined by fund members, here are a few examples of companies that have come through E8 and earned the trust and backing of its membership community.
LevelTen Energy operates a comprehensive renewable energy marketplace and platform. Their primary mission is to facilitate efficient connections and transactions between renewable energy buyers and sellers. By aggregating both parties, LevelTen enables streamlined procurement and investment in renewable energy projects. E8 members first invested in a convertible note in 2017 and continued to participate through their Series A, B and C rounds.
Enzinc is revolutionizing energy storage with high-power batteries that eliminate the limitations of lithium and lead-acid technologies. Their innovative zinc-based design transforms legacy battery manufacturers into leaders in sustainable energy solutions. E8 members first invested in Enzinc in 2022, recognizing its potential to power a cleaner, more reliable future.
Addressing the $350 billion global fats and oil markets, Circe Bioscience has developed a gas fermentation-based method to sustainably produce triglycerides bioidentical to dairy fats, palm kernel oil and sustainable fuels. Same molecule, same price, carbon negative. E8 members first invested in 2024, shortly after this promising technology spun out of Harvard University.
ESS Tech is the leading manufacturer of long-duration iron flow energy storage solutions. Established in 2011, ESS uses easy-to-source iron, salt, and water to enable energy security, reliability and resilience. E8 members first invested in 2014 and continued to participate in follow on rounds on the next several years. In 2021, ESS went public through a merger with ACON S2 Acquisition Corp, with a post-merger valuation of $1.47B.
Aquagga is addressing the critical challenge of PFAS, toxic “forever chemicals” linked to cancer and persistent environmental harm. Using its proprietary Hydrothermal Alkaline Treatment (HALT), Aquagga breaks PFAS’s carbon-fluorine bonds, achieving near-complete destruction without toxic byproducts. Unlike costly and unsustainable methods like incineration or landfilling, HALT provides a safer, cheaper, and on-site solution that meets emerging regulations. With the global environmental remediation market projected to reach $158.8 billion by 2026, Aquagga’s technology offers a game-changing approach to eliminate PFAS contamination and reduce regulatory and liability risks. Eight E8 members invested in Aquagga’s Seed round in 2023.
Photon Marine is transforming the maritime industry with its cutting-edge electric outboard motors and integrated software solutions. Designed for durability and efficiency, Photon’s technology replaces traditional gas-powered outboards, significantly reducing greenhouse gas emissions and operating costs for commercial marine fleets. With growing demand for sustainable transportation solutions and increasing regulatory pressures to reduce emissions, Photon Marine is positioned to lead the electrification of marine fleets, providing a scalable path toward a greener future on the water. Six E8 members participate in Photon’s Seed Round in 2024, led by Lane Venture Capital.
…and many others, covering solar, wind, built environment, sustainable materials, CDR, energy storage, water, bluetech, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and more. Regenr8 2025 hopes to invest in similarly promising companies tackling some of the environment’s toughest challenges, while delivering competitive returns to its investors and amplifying their collective impact on a sustainable future.
